TASTE, YET DO NOT SWALLOW
>The strange word-order of a titular puzzle

They would have me follow.
Of course they are correct;
I taste, but do not swallow,
My byword's "circumspect."

Is cowardice my caution
That consuetude, won't tote,
And God Almighty's awe, shun
With my constricted throat?

Both fear and chutzpah lie behind
My brazen diffidence,
The others seem to loose their mind
While I sit on the fence.

Oh, chew the Host, don't swallow it
And spit the leavings out.
You'l find, with independence fit,
You've got a lot of clout.

Another's God is not quite mine,
He's not within my gut,
Toeing the line may be just fine,
But gets you in a rut.

The flavor first, within your mouth
Without the help of jelly,
Will tell the tale when it goes south
And lies within your belly.

No need to be too cynical,
Let instinct be your guide,
Heed everything rabbinical,
Then put it on the side.

And when the dust has cleared the air
Then have another look,
It's handy if the answer's there,
That you had once forsook.
